I NEED ANOTHER STORY. SOMETHING TO GET OFF MY CHEST.I'M GONNA GIVE ALL MY SECRETS AWAY.TELL ME WHAT YOU WANT TO HEAR. SOMETHING THAT WAS LIKE THOSE YEARS.------------------------------------------------------------------ Ianto didn’t even bother to try and hide the brief moment of pain that flitted across his eyes at the thought of Jack leaving him. Of course, he knew it was going to happen eventually. Ianto was going to grow old and all wrinkly, while Jack remained the same suave and charming man he was today. There was no way Jack was going to stick around and date a man who looked fifty years older than him. Ianto had dealt with these thoughts many a night, wondering if he should get out of the relationship now while he still could to find a very human person that he could grow old with together.
Surprise…Surprise. John wasn’t going to listen to Ianto’s demand not to call him sugar. But…what was this? John didn’t seem to like the idea of being alone for the rest of the night, and Ianto knew that this wasn’t just another trick of his—that he was actually being serious about it. ”You’re being serious?” he asked, rhetorically. ”I want to be alone because…I want to be alone.” Lame. But he wasn’t going to tell John that he had a lot of things he needed to think about right now.
Leave it to John to bring up the kiss. ”It was a mistake,” Ianto said, not believing a single word of that sentence. Mistake or no mistake, Ianto knew it could never happen again. John was correct in saying that the Welshman loved Jack, and Ianto wasn’t about to mess that up just because Jack wasn’t the perfect boyfriend. Everyone had their faults but that didn’t mean it was okay to let your own faults show to get back at them.
And now John was freaking out even more. How Ianto wished he had a video camera to record all of this. He never wanted to forget it. But Ianto couldn’t help but feel a little bit sympathetic for the Captain. He was stuck on a strange planet with no one who was willing to help him out. ”Define ‘enjoy,” he said, letting a small smirk cross his face. Being stuck on a Ferris wheel with John had actually been quite enjoyable in a strange way, not that he was going to come right out and admit that to anyone.
The ‘please’ did it for Ianto. He let out a small sigh, running his hand through his hair. ”Fine. You can come back with me but don’t get your hopes up. Nothing is going to happen tonight.” If he kept on repeating those words maybe they’d come true. Ianto got into his car and started it up, waiting for John to settle in before driving off.

John tilted his head to the side, a faint trace of confusion still on his face. "That's a stupid answer. All people do when alone is brood and wish they weren't alone. I don't like it. Makes me...bored. And twitchy. And I usually end up burning something or breaking something. By accident." No, he definately did not like to be alone. Being alone was stupid and everything went too quiet and there wasn't even any Jack anymore to make it better. Damn it, he was being pathetic now. He would have hit himself over the head if he'd thought it would help.
"No it wasn't," he said quietly, watching the human. Then he paused for a moment, before speaking again. "Well, I didn't think it was. I liked it, by the way. You're a nice kisser." A very nice kisser. If he'd had tentacles, it would have been near perfect. Perhaps Eye Candy was having some emotional problems though, what with the loving Jack. It meant you could be with other people though, when in love. It was a distraction almost, stopped the love from hurting too bad.
He raised an eyebrow. "Fun? Amusing? Hey, I didn't even try to kill you, or mention it. That's good, isn't it?" He meant it to sound accusing...instead it sounded rather defensive. John didn't do defensive - attack was the best way. But...he'd found it rather fun.
A smile spread brilliantly over his face as Eye Candy gave in, and his visably perked up, bouncing on the balls of his feet and quickly getting in the car before the human could change his mind. "Just a movie then? I can do that. Course nothing will happen. Nothing at all." Yeah. As if he believed that. "Thank you."

I NEED ANOTHER STORY. SOMETHING TO GET OFF MY CHEST.I'M GONNA GIVE ALL MY SECRETS AWAY.TELL ME WHAT YOU WANT TO HEAR. SOMETHING THAT WAS LIKE THOSE YEARS.------------------------------------------------------------------ So John had called Ianto out on his fib because brooding was what he had planned on doing tonight…Brooding and wishing that Jack was by his side so he could forget all that had happened—and was still happening—tonight. Still, Ianto wasn’t going to admit to John that he was right. Ianto had already done way too many things that he shouldn’t have done already; he didn’t want to add to that list John thinking that Ianto had enjoyed the thought of doing something completely immoral.
Ianto found himself blushing at John’s statement, despite the fact that it was in his best interest not to do so. It would be polite to return the compliment but this was one of those rare situations where it was better not to do so. Instead, Ianto muttered a, ”Don’t get used to it,” to John. One kiss had been one too many kisses. It was never going to happen again. Simple as that. Ianto was going to keep his eyes on Jack and Jack only. That was that. No one could ever convince him to do otherwise.
He found himself chuckling at John’s seeming rather irate at his good behavior, despite it, once again, not being in his best interest to do so. ”You may have not talked about killing me but you did talk about killing other people.” For example, John had clearly stated that he wanted to toss people off of the Ferris wheel. Although, Ianto supposed that a lot of the talk about killing had been a part of John’s game plan all along to get the Welshman to watch after him all night long.
Ianto nodded his head as John agreed about nothing happening. A please and now a thank you. Ianto could have easily said (and he wanted to say it), ‘I’m just doing what Jack would want me to do,’ or ‘I’m just doing this to keep the good citizens of London’ safe but it wouldn’t be right to be rude like that when he believed John was in some way genuinely thankful for this, so Ianto settled with a simple, ”You’re welcome.”
…
Fifteen minutes later, they were parked outside the front of the hotel: Berjaya Eden Park London Hotel. And only a few minutes later (and a coy smile from the woman behind the front desk, who clearly also thought they were a couple), they were standing in the room. It was a simple enough room. Upon opening the front door and taking a few steps in, the bathroom was off to the left, a living area with the TV was directly in front. A few more steps into the room was a small table and then a few more steps was the queen-sized bed. Someone was going to be stuck sleeping on the couch. Ianto had a small bag filled with his personal belongings (a change of clothes, his diary, his stopwatch, and other small necessities) sitting on the bed.
Normally, he would have thrown his car keys down onto the coffee table in front of the couch but the last thing he wanted was John to run off with his car—a car John had already shown an interest in. ”You pick out the movie on pay-per-view,” he instructed John, ”And stay away from the Adult section. I’m going to clean up.” Ianto just wanted the chance to be alone—to get his thoughts straightened out. He made his way into the bathroom, closing and locking the door behind him. He put on the sink and splashed some of the cold water onto his face. This was so not a good idea.
------------------------------------------------------------------ tagged: Open words: Enough outfit: Here notes: hahaha...Looking at the photos of the hotel, Ianto's room is the one that's in the second row, second to the end....Yes...I'm weird. I picked out their hotel room for them.

Don't get used to it? John sighed, ducking his head and fiddling with the door of the car. He liked playing as if was nervous, or unsure, and...well, he liked to say he was playing now. But he wasn't too sure. He felt rather wrong footed, which was odd as hell, seriously...and he didn't know what to do. Other than keep 'playing'. "You'd like me to get used to it." He said softly, glancing out of the window. Unobscure hints towards something more...well, he was mostly expecting something now. Eye Candy was basically taking him home. Back to your place. The thought made him chuckle.
"I always talk about killing other people. But I didn't, that's the point - and I don't like situations like that. Being trapped inside, with no way out. Throwing you through the glass would have broken it, and I could have gotten out then. I thought about it. But I didn't. That must mean something, mustn't it?" It was an honest question. In his mind it meant a huge amount, but his mind...wasn't like other people, was he? Definately not. In fact, he hated being spoken to like he was like everyone else. The You're welcome though...that made him smile. Truely smile. It was nice.
---
The hotel was nice, that much John could tell. Alright, so he wasn't an expert - he focussed more on the people who were taking him to hotels rather than the buildings or rooms, but it was nice. Nice room as well...and that made him grin. He was in Eye Candy's room...with Eye Candy apparantly heading towards the bathroom. A shower? John shivered with delight at the very thought.
Then looked slightly confused. "There's a section for adults? Why? And why can't I see it? I'm an adult!" He pouted at the closed door, before turning back to the TV. Simple machine really - he'd wired bombs into more complicated ones...but mentioning that would be bad, so he kept quiet. Besides, Eye Candy was in the bathroom now.
He moved over to the TV, flicking it on before skipping quickly through the channels, finally settling on a random channel. One with...He blinked again then leanth closer, peering at the screen. What the hell were they? Were they meant to be...trains? His eyes flickered to the top corner of the screen, to the little logo with the squashy smiley blobs. Cbeebies. Huh. His eyes moved back to the screen. Trains?
Still staring oddly at the screen, he backed away, before turning and bouncing on the bed. No point passing up the opportunity. And there was a bag there, that would be good to rumage through. So he did...then paused. A book. That was...interesting. Quickly slipping it into his pocket, John then put everything back in the bag and placed it neatly to one side, then stretched out in a deliberately seductive motion - lying on the bed, kicking his shoes off and making himself comfortable, reaching up to run a hand expertly through his hair to make it look like he'd just been left in bed by someone, after a hard long night, rather than just waiting.
And then looked back at the screen. Were those things real?

I NEED ANOTHER STORY. SOMETHING TO GET OFF MY CHEST.I'M GONNA GIVE ALL MY SECRETS AWAY.TELL ME WHAT YOU WANT TO HEAR. SOMETHING THAT WAS LIKE THOSE YEARS.------------------------------------------------------------------ If Ianto wasn’t so confused himself he would have found John’s lack of knowledge about the planet utterly endearing. But, considering he was as confused as he had ever been in his entire life, he couldn’t even begin to bring himself to chuckle behind the closed door. And he definitely wasn’t going to enumerate on the Adult section because he was sure that someone like John would find those videos a very attractive prospect and just one more weapon he could use in his arsenal for trying to get into Ianto’s pants. Ianto had enough sense left to know that he didn’t want that to happen.
After wetting his face, Ianto dabbed it off with a clean washcloth. He momentarily thought about giving himself a mini pep talk about how before he knew it John would be out of his hair—that he could hold on for just a few more hours before bed and then John would be gone in the morning. That was all disregarding the fact that John might decide to be an idiot and bother Ianto while he was trying to sleep. But Ianto was banking all of his wishful thinking on the fact that that wouldn’t happen. So, no pep talk, because it was better not to dwell on his situation like that.
He opened up the bathroom door, not sure whether or not he wanted to see what John had chosen to watch but when he saw the talking trains on the television, he couldn’t help but burst out laughing. He had told John to stay away from the Adult section and, inadvertently, the man had chosen a children’s station instead. He was so amused that he didn’t even notice the seductive posture John had decided to adopt on the bed. Once he had gotten himself under control, Ianto turned his attention towards John. ”Now I really feel like I am babysitting you,” he said, taking a seat on the couch.
John was his guest. As much as Ianto would have loved to change the station, he wasn’t going to. If a whole bunch of talking trains on a kid’s show was going to keep John entertained Ianto was all for it. It was a blessing to have John’s attention on someone other than himself during the night.

John was steadily growing more and more bemused. He didn't even acknowledge the door opening again (oh, he noticed it of course - you didn't survive long in the universe if you weren't away of what was going on around you constantly). Instead, he just rolled over onto his front, bending his legs to lift them off the bed and propping his head on his hands, the book pressing against his taut stomach, out of sight.
Absently he waved a hand in the direction of the tv. "What the hell are they? Don't tell me their real. They're not real, are they? No, they can't be...could they? Bloody hell..." he shook his head in bemusement, before tipping his gaze away from it. Watching Eye Candy sit on the couch was a bit of a bummer, really, but John didn't mind. He just shrugged, turning his attention away from the tv and rolled over onto his side, sprawling elegantly and slipping the book out.
"Babysit me if you want, I won't complain. Does they mean I get to sit in your lap?" he blinked innocently, over the top of the book, putting it down on the covers then starting to flick slowly, unnoticeably, through it. "You human's are just...weird..."

I NEED ANOTHER STORY. SOMETHING TO GET OFF MY CHEST.I'M GONNA GIVE ALL MY SECRETS AWAY.TELL ME WHAT YOU WANT TO HEAR. SOMETHING THAT WAS LIKE THOSE YEARS.------------------------------------------------------------------ ”They’re trains…Talking trains,” Ianto said with a shrug of his shoulders. Having a bunch of kids watch talking trains was really a bit weird when he thought about it. Wouldn’t kids then expect to encounter talking trains in real life because they didn’t have the mental capacity to separate fiction from reality? He let out a small chuckle at John’s complete disbelief in what he was watching. He could be cruel and say that those things did exist but Ianto wasn’t that kind of a man. ”They may exist on some other planets, you would know better than me, but you won’t find them on Earth.”
John seemed like he was going to stick with this channel so Ianto decided that it would be best to try to become engrossed with watching the talking trains but then John spoke up again. ”In your dreams,” he said, recalling a phrase he had already used earlier in the night…Gosh, that seemed like forever ago. An easy glance at a clock, though, would have showed Ianto that it had only been a few hours ago…A few hours too long. Was this night ever going to end? At least he wasn’t stuck in some time loop with John like Jack had been. Ianto didn’t think he’d be able to stand two weeks that felt like five years.
He could let the ‘sitting in your lap’ comment pass without a look at John but he couldn’t let John keep on continually insulting humans. He looked over at John and was about to say just that but his mouth was stopped when he saw what John was flipping through. It definitely wasn’t the Bible that was a feature of every hotel room. Ianto knew that he shouldn’t be surprised that John had rifled through his things but it didn’t lessen the shock at seeing his diary in John’s hands. His diary was basically a bunch of weepy pages about how much he missed Lisa and, more recently, it was about all of the innovative things him and Jack had done with and to each other. In other words, things he didn’t want John to see.
Ianto was up on his feet and over by the bed before he knew it. ”Give it back to me…now,” he commanded, holding out a hand. Ianto wasn’t going to use force unless he absolutely had to because he could only imagine how much John would love to have him getting physical, even if it wasn’t exactly in the way John had hoped for since he spotted the Welshman at the bar.

"They are bloody odd," John said, glancing back at the screen and shaking his head. Trains. Talking trains...wait, trains were like cars? Like ships, but on the ground...so like snakes as well. Do they talk? He voiced the question to Ianto, tipping his head slightly. "Do trains actually do that? Or just in this weird world showing on the screen?" Talking trains...John would just find that irritating. "Oh. I am not going to find that out, anyway. They are...bloody odd."
He smirked, arching his eyebrow, then flicking his eyes up and down Ianto's body. "Oh, most definately in my dreams. Taking up most of my dreaming time, I'm guessing..." Fuel for fantasy, was Eye Candy in a suit. Not that John often bothered with fantasy - the real thing was so much better.
He looks back down at the book, flicking through his, pausing at one paragraph and chuckling a little, his eyebrows creeping slightly higher in disbelief. "Hmm?" he glanced up, pausing to realise that Eye Candy was closer and looking angry, then realising that oh, that was quite hot, and like hell was he giving this book back. "Why? It's an entertaining read, y'know. I mean...Stopwatches? Really? Blimey, sounds...rather interesting. Can I have a demonstation?"
He butted the hand away with the top of his head, then rolled away, with the book, climbing higher up the bed. "This is really good, actually." John wasn't a big reader unless it involved money. But this was fun!
