It's a beautiful lie
It's the perfect denial
Such a beautiful lie to believe in
It's the perfect denial
Such a beautiful lie to believe in
It was never how her life was supposed to be, never how the game was supposed to play out. Her own people sent to hunt her down like an animal…But everyone had a place in this great wide universe, perhaps hers did not dwell within the Institute any longer. The hiss of Ion energy back lashed with a heavy roll of thunder as the shape shifting huntress fired her weapon with little remorse towards Issildia. Time suddenly slowed its weary gait, those sharp cobalt eyes focusing on that white hot bolt as it left the woman’s firearm, flickering with bright electric flashes of light against the storm shadowed construction site.
Her fate swept with desperate lurches towards her, the sharply sculpted features of her face illuminated by the ivory flare as the ion projectile neared. A puff of frigid breath escaped her throat as muscles tensed and flexed, her boding moving with pure undiluted instinct, the hand pressed to the hilt of the incandescent saber sliding along the touch sensitive metal skin to force the Ion core to go dormant and dark as her Exo-Suit clad body slid into the shadow of a steel beam. Heat echoed around her body as the scent of ash and the hiss of melting steel roared about her ears. The weapon her hunter was using was powerful, potentially sharing the same potent Ion Core her blade utilized. For the moment Issildia had escaped unscathed, but the huntress was certain that he luck was not going to last.
Time snapped back abruptly with her back pressed tightly against the steel column, her breathing tight and calm as that faint hurt rumbled around her heart as her pulse quickened. Ignoring it, Issildia’s lips stiffened against the press of her teeth, olive digits sliding along the S-Class saber’s hilt to send the weapon into its compact dagger sized form with a soft snick of metal against metal. The weapon sheathed, the huntress wordlessly slid her left hand down to the array of thin silvery objects set in custom holsters at her thighs. She pulled a miniscule gray disk no larger than a silver dollar from the holster, her fingertips pressing the circular mercury encased core down with a subdued click. Crescent moon shaped blades slid out into position indicating that the device was designed with throwing in mind. But the huntress was not done as she pressed the central node again which with another subtle click caused the two bladed halves to separated apart into two pieces. The A/M explosives were normally not divided into their two joined halves simply because the Anti-matter explosive in the central core provided a more potent explosion with both halves together. But in this case Issildia did not require an attention grabbing and dramatic explosion, no, she intended for something far more delicate.
With a ring of metal against metal; the first half of the A/M explosive was set in place with the gravity strip placed on the back of the object, making it attracted to matter and cling to any object the wielder wished once activated. It could not be removed with any amount of ease unless an incredibly powerful electromagnetic pulse shorted out the wiring of the artificial gravity holding it in place. But that said, an EMP pulse would cause the device to detonate regardless.
Wind caught in her hair as Issildia flung herself off the edge of her perch down into the shadows of the next level of the half wrought building. Only the faintest whisper of a metallic clang echoed upwards to hint that she had safely arrived at her new position unharmed.
“Try and keep up…little girl” Issildia whispered lowly, knowing that there was certainly the chance that the other woman heard her, and to be blunt she hoped the message reached her opponent. Anger and rage had a habit of clouding combat ability and Issildia intended to use every trick up her sleeve to turn the situation in her favor.
