- - - - - - - - - - - The early morning sun peeked through the windows and Gwen began stirring from a deep sleep. The dreams she always had, good dreams of her and Rhys. She was really in love with him. She was glad that she finally came around and agreed to go out with him. She met him in college and she didn't like him at first, at least not the way he had liked her. Gwen had dated a few men before him and she had never felt the way about them as she did Rhys. Nor did she feel that way about the man since. Owen, to be specific. Her hooking up with him had been a mistake. It should never have happened. The only reason it did happen was because she wanted someone to talk to about Torchwood since she couldn't talk about with Rhys. She wouldn't cheat on him again. Gwen had made that promise to herself and she was determined to keep it.
She got out of bed, showered and changed. Her conscious was clear of that affair, though. She had told Rhys what happened, even though right afterwards she had retconned him, so he didn't remember any of it. Gwen had only told him because she wanted to know he forgave her. Whatever she and Owen had in the beginning was over now. She was engaged and nothing would be able to stand in her way of marrying him.
Before heading out to work, she spent the time with him, drinking coffee and talking about different things. There was always a lot of things to discuss when you were getting married. Gwen kissed him goodbye and left at her usual time. She wondered what would happen that day, whether she would have to stay later or if she could leave when she usually did. She hadn't heard of anything strange happening, but that could change when she hit the hub. Gwen didn't spend her mornings looking out for anything strange. Sometimes she spotted something, like the night before what was supposed to be her first day with Torchwood, out to dinner, she had spotted the alien craft. That night had been ruined by her being called in.
A lot of nights had ended up ruined because she got called in. Torchwood, you didn't have regular hours. If something happened when you were at home, you got called in. It's the way it was. Gwen made it to Torchwood, parked her car and headed inside.

Chewing on the end of his pen, Owen was at his work station typing away on his paper work. He glanced up at to see Gwen parking her car on the computer monitor. He watched her. It was somebody he had shagged in Torchwood. He told himself that over and over. It was pleasure and nothing more or less. Honest, it was someone to talk too. He had moments he wanted to tell the world what he had seen. He had wanted to run to the hospital and tell the staff he knows aliens and they ever dreamt to see.
Not in one of his best moods, because he had a black and blue eye from a pool hall. He ran into the same men who decided to get Owen in a fight. It was Owen who got himself beat up. He had no back on this one. He was in a special good mood. NOT!
He heard the cog door open, as the yellow light gone off. “Intruder alert!” he yelled in the Hub. It was dry sarcastic tone. He had not bothered looking over at Gwen. He kept to his keyboard. He was typing loudly he wasn’t hiding he was upset. “You decided to show up today, Gwen!” he growled at her. “Lover boy had let the leash some slack.” He was crude today.
He is wearing this.

- - - - - - - - - - - Gwen ignored Owen as she walked in and heard him yell of an intruder. She could've said something, but she was in a pretty good mood this morning and she would do her best not to let Owen ruin it for her. Of course, if he continued in that fashion, she wouldn't be able to contain herself. Ever since she started here, he had been one that could really press her buttons. Him and Jack. Gwen had confronted them before and she was sure she would have to do it again. But not now and hopefully, not at all today.
She took a seat near him and shook her head as he spoke. His words bugged her, but she remained quiet for awhile, even after he finished. Gwen had a feeling her good mood was going to end soon if this continued. "I always show up," she said, quietly, in a defensive tone. She knew Rhys didn't have her on a leash and he didn't dictate where she went and when she left her own home. She could've mentioned it to Owen, but she felt she didn't have to defend her fiancee to him. "Jealous of him, aren't you?"
Her words might just egg him on. She hadn't wanted to ruin her good mood by fighting with him, but she had still said that. A part of her must want to fight with him. "What's gotten into you today, Owen?"

Leaning back in his desk chair, he stared at the computer screen. He could sense Gwen being a bit annoyed with Owen.
I always show up. He rolled his eyes on her comment. He had not turned too glance at her. The hatred energy was boiling and he hated to admit he liked it. God he loved it. He felt alive. He wanted to grab Gwen and shove her on the floor and climb over her and shut her up by kissing her.
Jealous of him, aren't you? The pen fell out of his mouth and landed on his lap. The little fantasy dream popped out of his head. It was like Gwen took a needle and popped it away like a helium balloon. He stared at the monitor front of him wondering she said what he thought she said.
He turned his head like a shark that was hungry at Gwen, “Me jealous of fat boy?” he said in a little high tone voice. He was imitating Rhys best as he can. “I am Rhys the Welsh man who drives a lorry. I think one plus one equals three.” He made a dumb face. “Yea, I am jealous of fatty.”

- - - - - - - - - - - She remembered what it had been like with Owen. It was so easy to deny that she didn't like it, but truthfully, she did. She loved it. Loved it from their first kiss, which was why she hadn't pulled away, hadn't tried to stop it. Gwen knew she should have, but she'd been weak and tired of keeping everything she had seen since joining Torchwood to herself. She made a mistake, pure and simple, but something good did come out of it. It made her realize just how much she had loved Rhys and how much she didn't want to live without him. If she ever lost Rhys, her life wouldn't be the same. Now she didn't need to cheat to discuss Torchwood. He knew about it. Gwen had told him and had been able to get away with not giving him an amnesia pill right afterwards.
Owen really got on her nerves when he started making fun of Rhys. Gwen wouldn't be able to keep her temper under control this morning if he continued making fun of her fiancee. She'd admit that it was as much her fault as his. She hadn't helped matters by accusing him of being jealous. His making fun of him was just making her believe that he really was jealous. Not really jealous of Rhys, though. Probably just jealous because after their affair she had chosen to go back to him instead of staying with Owen. "No, not jealous of Rhys. I think you might be jealous because I went back to him instead of staying with you." It could also be the fact that the girl he had after her had left him, too, and God only knew where she ended up. Gwen didn't dare mention that though. That might just cause a much bigger fight between and she didn't want to blow this out of proportion. Hopefully, Owen will know when to stop himself before it got too out of hand.
It was up to them to stop the fighting. Usually, they always had someone around, telling them to stop. She wondered where everyone was. They couldn't be the only ones there. Perhaps something happened and they ran out. Her thoughts changed when she saw Owen's face. His black eye. Gwen wondered who he had gotten into a fight with this time and why. It wasn't any of her business, but she still wondered about it. Not that she would say something. She had to do her best to not let him get under her skin. Meaning ignoring what he said, which wasn't exactly easy to do. "Rhys isn't stupid, Owen," Gwen said in an irritated voice and that was all she was going to say. For right now, anyways.

No, not jealous of Rhys. I think you might be jealous because I went back to him instead of staying with you.
Quick temper because Gwen had struck a chord in Owen’s heart of temper. The little raging beast inside him wanted to bite Gwen in half. The thought of being jealous was a bad taste in the doctor’s mouth. It was like a whip a rejection whip that Owen had never tamed. It was like hearing his mother. Hell he lost Diane too.
Blinking his eyes, he had to let that sink in. Gwen said what she said. He glared at her and there was a mix of pain in his eyes. Standing quickly from his chair, he kept his glare on Gwen. Only I can grab her and throttle you, he was thinking. He turned his back on her and walked to the autopsy. Try to ignore her, for her safety he told himself.
Rhys isn't stupid, Owen he turned around. “No, just dumb,” he replied turning around to face her. Placing his hands on his waist, he tilted his head to give her a small glare. “Well I am not your type, Gwen. You seem to fall for idiots.” He smirked at her. See how she would react to that. It was like bouncing the ball back to Gwen’s side of her court.

- - - - - - - - - - - Rhys was a good person. He had his moments of losing his temper, but so did everyone. At least when he got angry with her it was when she actually deserved it. Gwen hadn't done anything to warrant Owen being angry with her. All she did was end something that shouldn't have even happened and went back to the man that she loved. And that had ended sometime ago, so it wasn't like it just happened. There was no reason for this and no reason for her to stoop so low to keep this going. All she had to do was ignore it. It wasn't going to be easy, but Gwen had to do it.
Her good attitude had faded and she glared at Owen as he walked to the autopsy. She forced herself to remain seated and not get up and follow him. She leaned back in her chair, trying to clear her thoughts of Owen and his anger. Get back to the good mood she had been in when she had first walked in. It wasn't easy. Gwen may have to leave the Hub for a bit and return later. Maybe by then Owen would be in a better mood and they could actually talk, have a decent conversation that didn't involve Rhys or their affair.
She turned away when he turned back, coaching herself to ignore what he was saying. It getting this bad was just as much her fault. Gwen should've ignored him from the beginning. Instead she went right along with it, saying things that had been sure to bother him. It was just a good thing she hadn't brought up Diane. "Then your exactly my type, Owen," she said, giving up trying to ignore him. She wouldn't be able to. "It would explain why I went for you, but it doesn't explain why I went back to Rhys." Gwen stood up and walked over to him, crossing her arms and glaring at him. "What did I do? Why did you start when I walked in?"

Gwen was one of those people is bold. Owen had looked down at the angry ex-police officer who was making her stand. This was the same person he had affair with. It was good as it lasted and at times he wished it lasted longer. It was good to hear her tell how she felt and he was there to listen. The man did hold a heart but he had wanted to sleep with her often as he could. He did that with Suzie too. Suzie wanted to talk and let it out and had good sex afterward. Owen supplied the needs but he was the one got the blunt hit at the end.
The man was in pain with anger and he lost Diane and was still having issues. He had nobody to talk too. It was drink, shag and sleep. Or the last time, drink, fight and sleep. Here was Gwen hard core police officer who told Owen and Jack no many times. She was a tough bitch and she was good. Owen had feelings for her but he knew there was not a chance for him and Gwen.
Holding a hand up, he closed his eyes. It was the escape from Gwen’s piercing eyes looking at him. He looked like he was in pain, because he had taken a deep breath and his rib jabbed at him. The man who hit there got him real good.
Breathing out, he opened his dark brown eyes, “Why? Why not?” he replied with and tried to walk away from her. “I mean, you have a relationship out there. Jack and Ianto…” he stopped and made a disgusting sound. The images in his head of the two men ran in his head. God he was jealous at those men. “And Toshiko…well…she has family.” That was a weak come back. Owen was alone here in Torchwood.
“I am emotional drained,” he said on a sigh. His shoulder sagged. “It seemed to be hopeless y’ know.” The hurt could be heard. God he was letting his guard down. “Don’t pity me,” he spat the warning out. “Nothing seem to last. God, I miss Diane…” he kicked his trash bin. It flew across the floor crashing against the wall making a very loud crashing sound. Why didn’t she stay? Was Owen good enough? He was giving her everything. She was impatient and he could give her everything! He was going to buy her the plane! He was happy with her. She made him feel alive. She knew what he was doing and there were no secrets between them. He became vulnerable to her. Everything he wanted was in that woman and the creator of the universe tore her away from him.
He threw his arms in the air and just let a loud scream. He kicked the trash bin again and it bounced back smacking him hard in the shin. “OW FUCK!” it had a nice sound too as it did damage. He limped cursing all sort of words in the air. Good thing he was not a zombie, he be breaking himself up. And he would make himself a prop for Torchwood.
