Nathan knew he was different; it wasn’t something he could deny or run from. He wasn’t born but created. He had seen the file on himself that night he stole it from one of the doctors there. The blood that coursed through is body wasn’t like anyone else’s… It was a mixture. Everything about him designed to become the perfect soldier however they failed to take in his personality, the way he would reacted to things. Instead of getting that loyal lab rat that followed orders, they ended up with him. The kid who rather take the beating then follow out their orders. Before they could change that about him, they were taken down and closed. And he was locked away to be forgotten about.
He knew where the human side of him came from but didn’t know much about that man. Nathan doubted he would ever learn anymore about himself because he was no longer in that universe, he was stuck here in the time and place. Things were still confusing to him but having a moment like this pushed all that away and brought him some peace of mind. ”If you knew the truth, than I am sure you wouldn’t be sitting here much longer.” Nathan said quietly. He seen how the people react to something different here from what he seen so far. ”I haven’t had much time to really enjoy that, well besides these last couple of days. And that sounds rather gross.” He also took a glance around, laughing a little at what the other man had said.
”Who knows, there might be someone around who is rather drawn to wrinkles and gray.” He didn’t want to think about who that would be or what would be so attractive about it. Nathan couldn’t help the flirting at the moment, he had a lot of lost time to make up and wanted to enjoy himself as much as he could be things might take a turn for the worse. ”So what might persuade you? Maybe the fact you have someone here that has never really done anything or something more than that?” He asked, glancing over at the other man.
When he heard about the other ’s ex being a looker, he relaxed, to see that he had at least the good looks. He would hate to have something that reminded this other man of something bad. The firm handshake was returned, smiling more when he felt the squeeze and wink. Nathan moved to run his thumb along the back of John’s hand before moving his hand away. ”Guess that is a bit freaky. The person I was cre…” He stared but out quickly caught himself and let it go for now, he wasn’t quiet sure what to say about it. Though he hoped it would get dropped for now, he really didn’t want to get into the details about that. ”It’s a pleasure to meet you Captain John Hart.” He turned back to his soda, taking the last drink from it before looking back over.
”What do you do for fun around here?”’

John waved a hand. "Oh, right, sure. Don't tell me then, 'cause this seat is really quite comfortable. Not quite as much as being with someone, but there you go. Needs must, and I needed a drink."[/b] Did he care about the kid? No. John didn't often do that whole caring malarky, or even pretending to care, because it was...simply, boring. Oh, wait, perhaps he should at least like he cared about that a little...maybe? No. Nope, sorry, no.
"Gross? Gross, what the hell is that word? You know it means 'big' in quite a few languages, right? And it also means 'purple' in another, I think." He frowned. John's knowledge of languages wasn't the best - not consciously anyway. Oh, he could speak them, sure, but he wasn't a translater. It seemed just the same to him, but he had been doing it for years hadn't he? Perhaps it was something to do with that...
"Offering yourself to plain strangers, are you? Ain't going to get far doing that, luv. Unsavourable types might take you up on it." And then, with a smirk, "Not me, of course." No, John didn't do that. Everyone he'd been with had wanted him. Badly, in most cases. He arched an eyebrow, tipping his head to the side at the feeling of the finger on the back of his hand. Well, evidently this boy did think himself to have a pair, didn't he? John grinned. He couldn't help but like that.
"The person you were 'cre'? I'm pretty sure that's not a word, y'know. Though, my knowledge of this language is, admittedly, limited." Cre? Should he have inquired about that? Maybe not...but he was curious, and he didn't care. Being curious was fine, in his eyes. But anyway, back to the flirting. Oh, John could do that. He dropped his voice to a deep purr, quirking his lips into a small grin. "Oh no, believe me, pleasure's all mine." It was. The kid had basically bought him a drink.
He shrugged, tipping his head back and sealing his lips over the mouth of the bottle, downing half of it in one go before pulling it away, wiping his lips before flashing another quick grin in the boy's direction. "How am I meant to know?"

Nathan knew nothing about this man, if he knew then he might have taken a different approach but to him. He didn’t see the things or technology that was used to. It was like he was sent back in time or something like that. Nothing about this was right or settling with him at all, leaving him confused and not sure who trust or even open up to about what he was to start to find out what happened. He felt it was just safer playing the cards he was. Keeping what he was and what he could do under wraps. ”Beats sitting on a cold damp stone floor and it looks like you got the drink you needed.” Nathan was a caring man but only to a point, he had his limits but after all he had been through, it wasn’t something he could do anymore currently.
When John said the word gross meant big in a few languages and it was purple in another, he looked a bit confused. ”Really? That’s kind of interesting. I’m afraid all I know is English and where I come from gross, means… indelicate, indecent, obscene, or vulgar, offensive, or disgusting among other different means.” He went on to say. Nathan had some book smarts when it came down to it. After all there wasn’t much for him to do back at Babylon when he was locked away between things but read some books. ”How many languages do you know?” Nathan loved to learn and was always looking to expand what he already knew. Currently he was rather interested in this man. It wasn’t the looks or his personality that was drawing him in but he felt the pull of something else that he couldn’t explain.
”What if I don’t want to get far? And those Unsavourable types might want to watch out if they knew what was best for them.” The look of a predator flashing over his features for a moment before fading away as he grinned, ”I am able to take care of myself even though I don’t look like it. As for you, I am sure you don’t have trouble finding someone who wants to be with. With the dashing looks and all.” When it came down to it Nathan could relay on his speed more than anything else. But he also had a bit more strength then someone of his size.
A sigh was given as he looked away from John and down at the bar as he talked about not being a word and how his language was limited. Nathan had been hoping the other male wouldn’t catch that or bring it up. ”I was created by a Organization who was set on making a perfect soldier.. I don’t know how I ended up here.” He looked back over when he heard John’s voice change and had a deep purr to; Nathan swallowed hard and looked back over in time to see the small grin. ”It’s the least I could do. Though I am sure I’ll find pleasure later on.” He watched the other man drink for a moment before looking back around the room. Trying to keep an eye on his surroundings, not really sure why he was still a bit nervous about being here. Though when he was talking with John, it faded away.
”Thought you just might now but then again, we could always go off and find something fun to do together.” He wasn’t sure where things were going or what was going to happen but that didn’t matter to him. All he wanted to do was enjoy this life while he had the chance to.

"Oh, definately,"[/b] John said, nodding. He didn't care to be on the recieving end of 'care', no less than he cared to be on the giving end. It was just there, people did it, how nice, move on. Caring was rubbish. The only person who could ever care, properly, was yourself, so that's how he went. Now. After JAck.
"Why use that word to say all of that, then? Just use those damn words. Sounds quite a bit more interesting and cultivated, don't they?" John said with a grin. He was clever...but not academically. He didn't know what words meant, or why people bothered to use ones which actually meant something completely different. "Enough to get by. Which is...probably, quite a bit. I dunno. Never bothered counting." And when he didn't have the words, he usually just killed. Saved time in the long wrong.
John raised an eyebrow, looked the kid up and down, then shrugged, "Suit yourself," Who was he to judge by appearences? John himself was small, and in the wrong sort of light looked terribly fragile. Yet he'd killed more people than he could honestly be bothered to count, and travelled the universe. And he was still alive, which was all that mattered. No, no point judging by looks. "Well, I'm never short of offers," he added, flashing a grin at the kid again, "I feel awfully rude if I don't accept."[/b]
He raised his eyebrow further at that. "Huh..." Created? Urgh, why did all of those threads, human's messing around with genetics and DNA and growing the perfect item...all come back to him? Ok, sure, the same thing had basically been the root of his own existance, but still. And anyway...soldier was at least interesting. It was better than simple 'slave'. But he didn't want to think about that, because it was pointless. Try telling his mouth that though. "So, you're a lost little boy, wandering in a place that ain't your own. I've been there."
Crap. He...hadn't meant to say that. Oh well. Smply shrug and move on.
"I'd love to, but right now, I'm drinking, and then I probably have some paying business to deal with later along the same lines. So unless you have anything interestingly original in mind, and aren't just a little kid trying to flirt with a big bad, move along. Thank you." Ok...so that was quite harsh. But the kid reminded him of Jack, and reminded him of his history, and that sucked.
