- - - - - - - - - - - Sarah Jane was sitting alone in a restaurant in London. At the moment, there weren't any alien threats to worry about, so she had down time. She was remembering. Remembering her time with the Doctor. She could never forget him. When you travel with the Doctor, no matter how long ago it was or how old you get, you don't forget. It was like UNIT training. You don't forget it, just get older. Sometimes she missed traveling through time and space, visiting different planets and different time periods, but Sarah liked her life now. She had Luke, Rani and Clyde and she was defending the Earth from alien threat. For the most part, same thing she did with the Doctor except she wasn't traveling through time and space. She was able to do it from Earth with the help of Mr. Smith, K-9 and Luke, Rani and Clyde. Not to mention the handy tools the Doctor had given her when she left him in 2007.
She had launched an investigation into the Deffry Vale High School because strange things happened there. She had no idea that she would run into the Doctor. When she first saw him, she didn't even know that it was him. It wasn't until she saw the TARDIS that she knew he was there. Sarah had teamed up with him, Rose Tyler and Mickey Smith and together with the help of K-9, who sacrificed himself, they were able to defeat the aliens. Back in the TARDIS, she'd helped convince him to take Mickey Smith as a companion. As the TARDIS was leaving, off for another adventure, The Doctor had left her K-9 and in a compartment in K-9 he had left her sonic lipstick and a watch that detected alien life forms.
That hadn't been the last time she saw him. She saw him twice more after that and neither of them had been under the best of circumstances. Once had been at her wedding. She had met a guy that she had been completely in love with and he had proposed. The Doctor had shown up to stop the wedding because he knew what she didn't know. The Trickster had been behind it. The other time had been when she'd been told he was dead. She never believed it and had gone to UNIT headquarters for the funeral with hopes of proving he was still alive. She had help from Jo Grant, then, who was Jo Jones now. They managed to prove that he was alive. Sarah Jane still believed she would be able to feel it if the Doctor ever were to die.
She wished she had brought Luke or Rani or somebody with her. She could use some company.

WE'RE GOING TO MAKE THE STARS B U R N WE'RE GOING TO SET THE SKY ON F I R E The Valeyard had to hold into the console as the TARDIS flew in the vortex. Usually she was quite stable, but today he wasn’t sure. The console felt hot to the touch and he was sure that she was about to go up in flames any moment soon. He looked around for his current companion, but of course they weren’t even around. Turning back to the console he began to run around, pressing down buttons, flicking switches and hoping one of them would help the situation. She shook once more sending him to the floor. He cursed angrily. Glad that no one was around to hear him loose his cool like that, but the fall had hurt. He was actually angry now, his head would hurt for a week thanks to that. “Stop that, you’ll get us all killed”.
She shook once more, but this time he was ready to hold on even tighter. He could feel the heat under his finger, the usually dark room was bright red now. There were a few flashes of gold and silver which made him less angry and more worried. His TARDIS was old, but during his time in Gallifrey he had worked on her, there was no reason for her to act this way. When he tried to pat her, he was launched backward into the stairs. A high volt of electricity that left him dizzy for a few seconds. The Valeyard stayed on the floor, unable to do much. His body was in deep pain now, he was sure she‘d burned of some of the skin on his hand. Looking down he cool see the deep red-pink fingers.
Another unnecessary movement that would have thrown him off again if he wasn’t already on the floor and finally she’d began to calm down. More interesting she’d landed. He stood up fully again, taking a few careful steps toward the console. The room wasn’t red anymore, but he wasn’t sure after what had happened. The TARDIS had never done that before. Not the reckless flying he was used to that, but actually injury him like that. Not even when the Doctor had stolen her. She’d been moody, but she’d never hurt him or Susan. He finally placed a finger on the console, when she didn’t strike him he rested his hand. “Are you all right love? That actually hurt.”
He patted her carefully now, she had scared him for a moment there. He wanted to be angry at her, but he couldn’t be. If there was one thing he loved was the TARDIS. The console was cooler now, but he wasn’t sure if she would become unstable again if he took flight so soon after. He switched the monitor on, if he wouldn’t take off maybe he could go out for a moment. London, Earth. He wouldn’t get much from the city or planet, but he could see a restaurant some feet from where the TARDIS had landed. Even thought there were people around, they weren’t aware of her sudden appearance. Only those who knew what she was, had seen her could really see a TARDIS landing. Time Lords had done a good job with their technology.
He patted her carefully, feeling a small volt of technology. It wasn’t painful, but it caused him to pull and step back. He quicker now, hitting the switch that would open her doors and running out. If their companions returned to the console she would either inform them of his departure and allow them to leave or continue with whatever they were doing. Or she would zap them like she had done to him. Either option worked fine with him. It was definitely London, early Twenty-first Century by the looks of it. He walked into the small restaurant, earth food wasn’t on top of his list. But he hadn’t been able to forget the Doctor’s old love for their tea.

- - - - - - - - - - - The restaurant wasn't that busy, but at the other tables were people living their lives without much thought of what was actually going on out in space. Not much thought about aliens and the people that risked their lives to save the earth and its inhabitants. Sarah Jane's life was full of action and adventure and she loved it. Not just the action, she liked being able to help out those aliens that come here because they were lost. She had helped aliens out with that before and sometimes, they gave her gifts, like one that gave her a communications device, so she could call it if she ever needed help... with poetry.
That had been around the time she had gotten Luke. The boy had been created by the bane and they had tried to destroy him, but in the end, he'd helped destroyed them, memorizing the number of their company from when Sarah had called them earlier using Mr. Smith, then calling that number using the alien communications device, sending a strong signal that bothered them. She had taken him in because where else was he gonna go? And she gave him a name because he hadn't been given one. She liked having him around. Now he was off at the university with K-9 and she missed him, but she spoke to him all the time using Mr. Smith.
Plus she wasn't alone. Rani and Clyde were still around and she saw them everyday. They were good kids and brave, too, especially with all that they've faced. Sarah cared about them like they were her own. The only kids she would tell her secret to. She didn't like putting kids in harms way and had been reluctant to let them help, like she had with Maria, but it hadn't worked. But there were times where they came in handy. Sometimes, when fighting aliens, it was good to have more than just her there.
Her thoughts were interrupted by her watch, which had detected an alien life form. Sarah studied the readings. Time lord, she thought. She hadn't heard the TARDIS, but then, she had been lost in thought and wasn't paying much attention to those around her. She looked at the door just in time to see him walk in.

WE'RE GOING TO MAKE THE STARS B U R N WE'RE GOING TO SET THE SKY ON F I R E The restaurant was simple enough, 21st Century Earth was still uninteresting and wouldn’t be for years to come. But he didn’t trust the TARDIS to have a nice takeoff just yet. Plus the Doctor may have liked this century for a reason. Once that thought had crossed his mind the Valeyard was sick with himself. The Doctor’s taste in things wasn’t something one should take at heart. The Doctor for once had a great taste for getting his nose into things that could have killed him(and did more than once), after that first regeneration the others had come and went. The Valeyard had to laugh at the irony of that, the faster the Doctor died then the sooner he was born.
He looked down at his hand it was still red, Time Lords healed faster than average human. But it was still a slow process compared to other species out there. He moved his fingers a bit, movement was fine. Other than the red color and slight pain there hadn’t been much damage. He was still going to have a long talk with his TARDIS once the day was over, he didn’t want her doing that again any time soon or in the future. He was still confused about the whole thing, she had been fine before the little accident. All of her parts had been working, no damage no signs of warning. Not even to Cloister Bell had sounded during the whole incident.
He bought a cup of tea, using the physic paper to pay for it. He gave the waiter one of his best smiles to distract her away from it. With a wink he turned around, only to roll his eyes slightly. It was then that he noticed her, an old friend of his-no wait the Doctor. He thought about walking out and not looking at her. But that would look suspicious, there was a slight chance that she hadn’t even noticed who he was. He was sure that he didn’t resemble any of the Doctor’s previous incarnations. Plus his style of dressing wasn’t as strange as that of the Doctor.
He moved across the room slowly, not looking at Sarah Jane Smith. He tried to act naturally, the last thing the Valeyard wanted on this day, that had already gone pretty bad for him. Was o have one of the Doctor’s old companions on his back. The chances were that if he stuck around them the Earth would get attacked by some alien race. His memories pf the Doctor’s life were very good, almost every time he showed to this time with one of his little companions or met one of the old ones, something bad happened. After that little incident with the TARDIS he had no wishes what so ever to be in the middle of an alien invasion or an evil master plan. Unless he was behind it of course.

- - - - - - - - - - - Unless if her watch was malfunctioning, which she doubted, there was a Time Lord around and the Time Lord was within this restaurant. She just had to find this Time Lord because she was curious as to what they were doing around her. Unless if the Doctor had already regenerated since the last time Sarah Jane saw him, it wasn't him. That didn't seem right, as she knew the Time Lords had died out. The only one left was the Doctor. But here it was, a Time Lord around that wasn't him and she was almost positive of that.
She could go outside, look for the TARDIS, but there was no point in doing that. She already knew one was around and it was in the restaurant. Going outside, she wouldn't learn anything. She looked at the man that had walked in when the watch detected it, but there didn't seem anything off about him, nothing that would make him seem alien. Like the Doctor. Sometimes, he had seemed so alien. Some had to do with his clothes, but since every patron in this restaurant wasn't wearing anything that would seem out of the ordinary, Sarah Jane may have to observe them, see if she could spot anything out of the ordinary.
She couldn't just sit there all day, though, not without drawing some kind of attention to herself. Plus, there was nothing to stop the Time Lord from just leaving and she didn't know who the alien was, so she wouldn't be able to follow him. Then she would lose her chance of talking to him and finding out what he was doing around there. Usually, something was up when she ran into The Doctor, like an alien threat, and Sarah Jane was sure it would be the same with any of them, but if it was an alien threat, the watch would probably be picking up a lot more than just the Time Lord. The Earth was safe for right now. Nothing for her to worry about unless the Time Lord was planning something.
If she ended up losing this Time Lord, she wouldn't be able to forget it. She'd be wondering about it and she couldn't live like that. It would seem like the time her travels had ended and she hadn't been able to move on right away. Sarah Jane didn't want to live like that again, so she couldn't just sit there. She had to find out just who it was.

WE'RE GOING TO MAKE THE STARS B U R N WE'RE GOING TO SET THE SKY ON F I R E He looked towards Sarah Jane Smith’s desk, it appeared that she was alone there. Or at least her companions were somewhere else for now. He was also glad to discover that she hadn’t noticed his presence yet. If she knew there was an alien around, then Ms. Smith hadn’t discovered it was him. The Doctors companions tended to run towards their old friend each time they met him. Which he guessed explained all the trouble that came right after, them getting together was bad trouble for everyone else. The Universe just loved throwing trouble their way, usually it would be fine if it didn’t end up hurting him later on.
He looked down at the tea, taking a sip from it. Usually it was good to test it before taking a larger one, even thought Earth was well know for its tea. At times the tea wasn’t that impressive at all, at times it wasn’t even tea. This one tasted just fine, not the best out there. But it wasn’t as bad as it could be. He took another sip then, looking at Sarah Jane Smith before retuning to his tea. It wasn’t so bad, well it was. He was stuck on a Level 5 planet, surrounded by humans, sitting close to an old Companion of his-the Doctor and with an angry(maybe)TARDIS. Things were pretty bad, but he could stay positive. He could be on an even lower planet or flying into an exploding star. At least he had some warm tea and the hope of fixing his ship.
He just needed to find out what was wrong with her, something that after he relaxed would take too long. He was about to take another sip when his head throbbed in pain. But it wasn’t just his head, his body was throbbing, every cell, every atom. It was almost the same pain that came from regeneration. Time was screaming, a rhythm of pain to those who could hear it. The cup felt down, spilling the tea but not breaking. He stood up, almost slipping on the liquid and began to walk out. It hadn’t been there, but he was sure his current state had been the cause of the TARDIS failure minutes before. Something was damaging time, an amateur experiment he guessed. It wasn’t rare for the humans to try and experiment on things they couldn’t understand.
That the TARDIS had brought him here meant that it was happening somewhere near. It wasn’t like him to save the Universe, but when his own life or health was affected then he was there, plus time was his territory. Little apes needed to be kept away from the power that belonged to the Time Lords alone or at least those who could control it. All thoughts about Sarah Jane Smith were forgotten as he walked toward his ship, there she stood blue and so old. Going inside the TARDIS now would be dangerous, he needed another way of finding out what was happening. Or at least a way of using her without getting hurt by his own ship. Then he remembered Sarah Jane Smith and her technology, it could be of good use.

- - - - - - - - - - - She hadn't been near a time lord in a while and now she was and she couldn't figure out who it was. There was a way Sarah could figure it out, the same way she figured out that Luke was human, but she couldn't go around the restaurant, scanning everyone. It would draw too much attention to herself. And it could cause the time lord to leave if he didn't want to be known. There was another thing she could do and not involve any of her technology. She could just leave the restaurant, wait outside for him to come out. There had to be a TARDIS nearby, she was sure of that. Sarah could hang around there and wait.
She looked around the restaurant one last time and headed out. She saw the TARDIS and stood near the restaurant door to wait. For one moment, she thought of sneaking in it, being a stowaway again, but she had no desire to be transported to another time or planet. That and she was sure the door was locked. Sarah Jane had been a stowaway before, her first time in the TARDIS. She'd been looking for scientists. She hadn't trust the Doctor, thought he was behind he disappearance. Of course he hadn't been. Stowing away in the TARDIS was something she would never regret doing. If she hadn't, Sarah may never have been the Doctor's companion and she may not have the life she did today.
Her watch told her when the time lord exited the restaurant and she watched him approach the ship. She wondered what was going on when he didn't go inside and take off. Something had to be keeping him here. Maybe something was going on that she hadn't caught onto yet. Something involving not aliens but humans. Everyday, scientists were conducting experiments that could sometimes do the world more harm than good. Sarah Jane walked over to him and when she was a few feet away from him, said quietly, "What's going on?"

WE'RE GOING TO MAKE THE STARS B U R N WE'RE GOING TO SET THE SKY ON F I R E The Valeyard looked around, he guessed it wasn’t so rare for someone to sit down in one of the corners because they hardly even looked his way. He tapped his fingers against the wood of the TARDIS, smiling and waiting. If he knew the Doctor’s companion and well he did, Sarah Jane Smith would be out investigating the alien presence that her equipment probably detected already. He hoped that the Doctor hadn’t gone around telling his past companions about him. He could always use the “I’m a future incarnation of the Doctor!” trick, but that trick rarely worked. Which ironically made no sense, because in some form he was a future incarnation of the Time Lord.
Finally the door opened and closed as someone came out. He stopped smiling and waited for the person to walk closer to him(and the TARDIS) before turning to look at them. From his position in the ground he had to look up to look at Sarah Jane Smith. “I was sure that by Earth’s manners people usually introduced themselves or at least greeted someone before questioning them.” He allowed his words to sink in and for a replying before standing up. He was in this form shorter than the Fourth and Third incarnation of the Doctor, but around the same height than the other incarnation she had met later in her life. He looked closely at the Doctor’s past companion.
As the Doctor he’d met Sarah Jane at different points of her life, right now he guessed that she was at some point after her first meeting with the 11th incarnation or at least close to it(before or after wasn’t important now). “Hello Sarah Jane, is me.” He stopped trying to make his best Doctor pout before breaking into a small giggle fit. “That sounded cooler when I was still him. I thought I could do it, but whatever was left of the Doctor is well hidden now.” He began to talk to himself before he remembered the time experiment or whatever was happening on the forsaken rock that humans called Earth. “Sorry I tend to get distracted a lot now, it’s been a while since that happened.”
He drew closer smiling down at her before stepping back slightly. “But something is going on, some apes experimenting, trying to master time. It threw my TARDIS right off her path. Caused her lots of pain I’m guessing by her reaction to my touch. If it has such an effect on the ship anything could happen to this planet.” Which frankly he didn’t care much about, he was more worried about his ship than anything else, well maybe his own life. “So what do you think Sarah Jane Smith, want to save this planet.” Until some other stupid ape or aliens came along, He was sure there was probably another Dalek attack in the planet’s future. Earth had become more popular with dangerous aliens trying to destroy it. Probably were just aggravated by the humans, he understood the feeling.
